It’s an interesting application in that the main protagonist is blind. So, the screen throughout the entire game is black with an exception being made for if you need hints on gameplay. The game, when you load it can seem quite sinister for this reason I think (I kept waiting for a jump-scare!) but, it’s actually really beautiful! So, don’t let the start put you off!
To navigate through the game you are prompted by the protagonist to locate things and interact with things purely by using sound. I think that is what makes the gameplay on Blindscape really unique. But, is this a good example of how a soundscape could be made more interactive? Possibly. I would definitely like to make something similar.
Make sure you give it a play through. It’s free and only takes between 10-15 minutes to play through at the moment. The game recommends that you use headphones but I managed to successfully play through without so again, don’t let that put you off! Let me know what you make of the application!
Let me know in the comments if you know any other games similar to this because I’d be keen to check them out!!
