Augmented Reality technology 2016

Every year brings with it new tech and new ways to experience Augmented Reality. This year is no exception with the introduction of technology such as the ODG Smart Glasses. Click on the video below to take a look:

Although, like with Google Glass, I am slightly terrified by the idea of wearing this kind of technology all the time (think of all the normal things you would miss!). This kind of technology has a lot of potential.

The section I find particularly interesting is the section about 15 seconds in. It shows, in my mind at least, how apps like Streetmuseum and the ‘Kirkgate: The Victorian Street App’ could be adapted. Imagine one second seeing the cityscape as it is now and then being able to switch to see how it looked 50 years ago, 100 years ago? The sky is the limit.

Sites could be virtually reconstructed, views could be artificially restored and in museums, objects could be shown in context rather than just in a display case.

This is by far not the only technology that is out this year. If you would like me to do a full review, let me know in the comments.
